Thought and Play

In my studio I seek feelings associated with play — curiosity, spontaneity, flow. Not exactly the unselfconscious play of a child, but something more performed and goal-oriented: play with an awareness of the audience.

Alongside this runs a parallel engagement with philosophy of mind and aesthetics — frameworks that sharpen the questions, then eventually dissolve into something more sensory: the pleasure of making, the texture of a painted surface, the rhythm of a voice. Thought gives way to play.
